Job SummaryThe Dental Hygienist will be responsible for assessing patient needs, planning and delivering direct dental care, and providing patient education and support. You will work closely with our dental team to ensure that patients receive comprehensive and compassionate care.
Key Responsibilities- Assess patient dental condition and needs, using patient screening procedures and medical history review.
- Deliver direct patient care, including routine treatment procedures, patient education, and discharge planning.
- Develop and implement individualized dental care plans, working closely with patients and our dental team.
- Provide chair-side assistance to dentists during special tests, procedures, and complex treatments.
- Make impressions of patients' teeth for study casts and document dental history and chief complaints.
- Assist with emergency measures during treatment and perform patient triage and initiation of patient care as needed.
- Prepare patient care areas, assist with patient admission, transfer, and discharge, and perform other office duties as required.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Dental Hygiene.
- Two years of experience in a clinic or community health setting, preferably in a similar role.
- Current licensure as a Dental Hygienist in the State of New Mexico and NM Board Certification (Registered).
- CPR certification within 6 months of hire.
This role requires frequent standing, walking, and use of hands to operate dental equipment and instruments. You will also be exposed to blood and blood-borne pathogens and physical risks. A person in this position has sufficient time to complete most tasks, although under pressure depending on patient and organization demands.
