Nursing Operations Manager

POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Director of Nursing is a skilled nursing professional responsible for overseeing the daily functions of a specific department in collaboration with the Director of Nursing. This role is pivotal in ensuring that patient care services are delivered effectively while adhering to quality standards, legal requirements, and organizational objectives. The Assistant Director plays a crucial role in supporting the Director of Nursing by enhancing operational efficiency to deliver high-quality nursing care.
In this capacity, the Assistant Director co-manages the department and operates independently under the supervision of the Director of Nursing. Compliance with regulatory bodies, including The Joint Commission and the Nurse Practice Act, is essential, as is the promotion of optimal healthcare delivery within established budgetary constraints.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Exhibit leadership in planning patient care and managing day-to-day operations.
- Collaborate effectively with ancillary services and the interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Serve as a 24-hour consultant for nursing staff, physicians, and the patient's home nursing facility.
QUALIFICATIONS
Educational Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
- Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in nursing.
Licenses and Certifications
- Current state or compact nursing license; BSN required or in progress within six months.
- BLS certification.
- Any additional certifications required for nursing staff in the managed area.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Proven expertise in acute care nursing, including necessary knowledge and skills.
- Ability to operate computer-driven patient care equipment.
It is important to note that compliance with federal, state, and local laws regarding mandatory vaccinations is required. Candidates offered this position must provide proof of full vaccination or secure an approved exemption prior to commencing employment. Regular testing may be mandated for those with exemptions.
