About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Gardening Instructor to join our team at Leaders of Tomorrow Youth Center, Inc. As a Gardening Instructor, you will have the opportunity to share your passion for gardening and inspire young minds to develop a connection with nature and promote healthy lifestyles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive gardening curriculum for youth participants, incorporating hands-on activities and workshops to foster a deeper understanding of horticulture and environmental stewardship.
  • Conduct regular gardening activities and workshops, ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment for all participants.
  • Maintain the gardening tools, equipment, and supplies in good condition, ensuring optimal functionality and minimizing waste.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress and participation of youth in gardening activities, providing constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement.
  • Collaborate with other instructors to integrate gardening lessons with overall program goals, promoting a cohesive and comprehensive educational experience.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in horticulture or gardening education, with a strong background in plant care, soil management, and garden maintenance.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to teach and interact effectively with students of diverse backgrounds and skill levels.
  • Ability to create engaging and educational gardening curriculum, incorporating a range of teaching methods and materials.
  • Demonstrated passion for working with youth and fostering their interest in gardening, with a commitment to promoting environmental awareness and sustainability.
