Hospitalist Physician Assistant

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Hospitalist Physician Assistant to join our team at UNC Health Care. As a key member of our interdisciplinary healthcare team, you will provide high-quality, cost-effective care to patients within your scope of practice in collaboration with a supervising physician.
Responsibilities
1. Clinical Care
• Obtain relevant health and medical history, perform thorough physical assessments, and review and interpret pertinent diagnostic tests/results.
• Develop and implement treatment plans, including prescribing and ordering evidence-based pharmacological agents consistent with departmental guidelines and privileging.
• Conduct preventive health screenings based on age, history, and patient needs.
• Maintain clear, comprehensive, and concise records of all aspects of patient care.
2. Education
• Educate clients and/or families regarding medical conditions, treatment, and follow-up.
• Collaborate with clinicians, staff, and students to promote continuity and patient/family-centered care.
• Develop educational materials based on learning needs of clinicians, staff, and students.
3. Leadership
• Provide instruction to physicians, house staff, nursing, ancillaries, and/or students, including precepting, shadowing, lectures, training classes, CE, rounds, morning report, and/or staff meetings.
• Participate in community/network outreach programs and develop/lead community/network outreach programs.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the contexts and systems in which healthcare is provided and apply this knowledge to improve and optimize healthcare delivery.
4. Professionalism
• Interact with patients and families in a respectful, courteous, and timely fashion using appropriate communication for the patient and situation.
• Interact collaboratively with coworkers, other team members, and staff in a respectful, courteous, and timely fashion appropriate to patient care needs and situations.
• Respond quickly to meet customer needs and resolve problems.
5. Quality/Research
• Engage in daily continuous quality improvement by identifying and implementing processes for improvement.
• Consult with management in assessment, problem-solving, decision-making, and evaluating clinical/system issues and models of care.
• Lead interdisciplinary teams to provide integrated delivery of patient care services.
Requirements
• Completion of an accredited graduate-level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program.
• Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider (i.e., Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Certified Nurse Midwife) in the state of North Carolina.
• Board certification if required by the Department.
• DEA.
Work Environment
• Work Type: Per Diem.
• Standard Hours Per Week: 4.00.
• Work Assignment Type: Onsite.
• Work Schedule: Variable.
• Location of Job: US:NC:Smithfield.
• Exempt From Overtime: Exempt: Yes.
