Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Radiologic Technologist - Special Procedures to join our team at NYU Langone Health. As a key member of our Diagnostic Imaging Department, you will be responsible for performing medically prescribed radiographs and interventional procedures with the highest level of accuracy and patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Understand and adhere to the mission and values of NYU Langone Health and the Diagnostic Imaging Department.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or issues to the relevant authorities and ensure that all equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
  • Utilize the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) to manage and retrieve medical images, and assist in the backloading of data after system downtime.
  • Manage radiology inventory supplies by anticipating needs, checking inventory levels, and ordering new supplies as required.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment by adhering to established processes and regulations.
  • Be aware of and report any radiation safety issues to the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO), and ensure the use of gonad shielding on all patients whenever possible.
  • Use lead markers to indicate laterality and Tech ID on all images, and employ patient positioning, immobilizing devices, equipment adjustment, and technique factors to obtain optimal image quality.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of radiation safety protocols and the ALARA principle, and incorporate them into the performance of all general diagnostic exams.
  • Maintain daily QA, QC phantom calibrations log book for compliance issues, and perform daily QA, QC phantom calibrations on all general diagnostic units and equipment.
  • Ensure active certification and licensing by all relevant city, state, and federal regulatory agencies, and provide proof of required continuing education programs.
  • Demonstrate expertise in equipment setup, utilization, and care, and prepare and clean the exam area before and after each patient.
  • Implement patient procedures independently in accordance with department protocols and standards.
  • Effectively assess patient information and status, and follow appropriate procedures accordingly.
  • Recognize and report the first sign of medical emergencies to the relevant authorities.
  • Apply established procedures for patient identification, and understand and apply the organization's service standards in the daily workflow of the Diagnostic Imaging Department.
Requirements
  • Certificate from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
  • New York State license or temporary permit to practice Diagnostic Radiology.
  • 1-2 years of work experience as a radiology technician in any medical facility.
  • Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
