The Aviation Inventory Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the Warehouse Manager in various aspects of warehouse operations, including inventory control, processing parts returns, and preparing the Parts Runner for their duties. This position also includes the responsibilities of an Incoming Inspector and requires training in this role by a designee of the Chief Inspector. The Aviation Inventory Specialist is responsible for the overall flow of parts in and out of inventory and provides a major supportive role in the other sub-departments within the Warehouse department.
Duties & Responsibilities- Order Fulfillment: Prepares Will Call orders and receives payment when necessary.
- Warehouse Customer Service: Monitors the warehouse customer counter as required, handling part requests and unexpected shipments.
- Parts Requisitioning: Prepares work order requisitions for Parts Runners to assist in deliveries and supports them as needed.
- Sales Order Processing: Prepares sales order requisitions.
- Freight Management: Calculates incoming freight charges, compares to charts, and generates computerized invoices and packing slips.
- Cycle Counting: Performs cycle counts to ensure accurate inventory.
- Inventory Placement: Places parts (ordered/returned) in their proper bin locations, updates shelf life, quantities, and serial numbers.
- Picking and Verification: Picks parts for requisitions and sales orders using the FIFO system, verifies lot, control numbers, and quantities.
- Part Inspection: Verifies part numbers, serial numbers, and quantity of all physical parts received.
- Damage Inspection: Visually inspects parts/material for damage caused by manufacturer, packaging protocol, or shipping company.
- Quarantine and Reporting: Identifies potentially unapproved/damaged parts, quarantines, and reports these findings to the shipper, work order lead, and/or the Chief Inspector to request confirmation and instruction on parts and materials in question.
- Material Handling: Moves larger items utilizing the two-man concept or a forklift as necessary.
- Experience: Minimum one (1) year's experience in an inventory control function.
- Inventory Issuance: Minimum one (1) year's experience issuing inventory from stock.
- Computer Database Skills: Minimum one (1) year's experience with a computer database program performing data entry.
- ERP Skills: Candidates with skills using ERP are preferred.
