Position Overview:

This role may offer up to 40 hours of work per week.

Under the guidance of departmental leadership, the Registered Dietitian (RD) operates within the established frameworks of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, adhering to the Massachusetts Statutes and Regulations governing Dietitians and Nutritionists. The RD embodies the core values of Baystate Health, demonstrating the necessary expertise and skills to meet the expected standards of care, which encompass physical, psychosocial, cultural, educational, spiritual, safety, and age-appropriate considerations for patients. The RD is accountable for the development and management of the patient's nutritional care plan, ensuring thorough assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the nutrition strategy. This position involves direct patient care as well as collaboration with other healthcare professionals. The RD is also engaged in committees and performance improvement initiatives, continually seeking to enhance their knowledge and skills while complying with all relevant regulations and standards set by accrediting bodies. The RD must be registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration and hold a license as a Dietitian Nutritionist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Key Responsibilities:

1) Conducts thorough nutritional assessments for designated patient populations.

2) Formulates medical nutrition therapy plans and monitors the effectiveness of these plans.

3) Communicates the nutrition care plan requirements to the patient care team throughout the continuum of care.

4) Provides tailored nutrition education to patients based on their readiness and ability to learn.

5) Engages in facility and departmental planning and performance improvement activities.

Required Experience:

1) Minimum of 1 year of experience in clinical nutrition is required.

Skills and Qualifications:

1) Knowledge and skills obtained through completion of an accredited degree in nutrition, including a clinical practicum from an accredited program.

2) Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration is mandatory.

3) Candidates who are eligible for registration will be considered, provided they achieve registration within one year of employment.

4) Membership in the American Dietetic Association is preferred.

Qualifications:

Registered Dietitian - Commission on Dietetic Registration (mandatory) Licensed Dietitian - Commonwealth of MA (mandatory) Education: Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or a related field (required), with a Master's degree preferred (Master's required for those registered in 2024 and beyond)
