Job Summary

CNA is seeking a highly skilled Underwriting Consultant to join our team. As an Underwriting Consultant, you will play a critical role in evaluating and managing risk for our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough reviews of applications and financial requirements to determine the acceptability of risk.
  • Determine the need for additional evidence of insurability and develop strategies to mitigate risk.
  • Analyze financial and competitive data to determine appropriate pricing and ensure compliance with company guidelines.
  • Prepare quotes and respond to inquiries from agencies, policyholders, and other external contacts.
  • Negotiate with agents to achieve positive and profitable outcomes.
  • Communicate underwriting decisions, rate appeals, and underwriting requirements to agencies.
  • Analyze the quality, quantity, and profitability of risks underwritten and provide reports for management review.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with agencies and brokers to promote products and services.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to other underwriters and functional areas as needed.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends, regulations, and best practices to ensure the highest level of expertise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Professional designations preferred.
  • Underwriting experience required. Qualified applicants at varying experience levels will be considered.
