Key Responsibilities
  • Perform tasks with minimal supervision, including transportation, cleaning, and fire watch duties.
  • Comply with craft and shipyard safety and environmental measures.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and minor on-the-job repairs of all tools associated with the Laborers craft.
  • Perform general cleaning of vessels, docks, and other areas as required.
  • Responsible for pump and hose set ups and maintenance.
  • Responsible for chemical set up and application by hand or spray.
  • Cleans for a gas free work area in way of hot work.
  • Works in a team environment.
  • Responsible for boiler and/or stack set up, pressure washing or steam cleaning.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • 3 years relevant work experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
  • Ability to recognize and resolve unsafe working conditions.
  • Ability to set up and monitor the operation of service pumps.
Working Conditions

The Laborer Journey Level 1 will work in a fast-paced shipyard environment with frequent exposure to noise, dust, and other hazards. The ability to work at heights and in confined spaces is required.
