Automotive Technology Educator

GENERAL OVERVIEW

Arkansas State University-Beebe, a two-year residential community college and part of the Arkansas State University System, is seeking applications for a full-time position as an Instructor in Automotive Technology. The selected candidate will demonstrate comprehensive expertise in the field, aimed at educating both secondary and post-secondary students. Courses offered include Intro to Automotive Technology, Automatic Transmissions, Suspension & Steering, Brakes, and Engine Performance.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver instruction on maintenance and minor repairs of vehicles.
  • Teach preventative maintenance practices, including inspections, tire rotations, and oil changes.
  • Oversee parts inventory and ensure cleanliness within the workshop.
  • Collaborate with the repair team to identify vehicle issues and strategize repairs.
  • Conduct regular diagnostic assessments on vehicles and provide guidance in this area.
  • Maintain precise records of repairs conducted on vehicles and instruct students accordingly.
  • Track daily student attendance and document participation.
  • Evaluate student performance and record grades.
  • Foster and sustain partnerships with industry stakeholders to enrich the curriculum and create job opportunities for students.
  • Establish and maintain an active advisory committee comprising local and regional industry experts.
  • Ensure compliance with current industry accreditations and seek new accreditations that benefit the program and student success.
  • Meet program recruitment targets to secure a minimum annual enrollment of 40 students.
  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Regional Career Center and Dean of Career Education to achieve recruitment and program objectives.
  • Assist in fundraising initiatives and grant writing for the automotive technology program.
  • Demonstrate the ability to create effective lesson plans and program-level outcomes while adhering to established curricula.
  • Work effectively with students of varying abilities and skill levels.
  • Utilize college technology platforms such as CANVAS, Campus Management, and Office 365 proficiently.
  • Ensure a safe learning environment within the lab/shop area.
  • Safely operate a forklift as required.
  • Perform any additional related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Must possess an Associate Degree in a relevant field or be in the process of obtaining such a degree, along with appropriate automotive certifications. A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant work experience is required.
