Job Summary

Midland University, a private, faith-based, liberal arts institution, is seeking a highly motivated and organized Graduate Assistant to support the Cheer Program. This role requires admission to one of our graduate programs, including Master of Education, Master of Science in Learning and Talent Development, Master of Science in Sports Administration and Leadership, or Master of Business Administration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Administration: Assist the head coach in leading the cheer program, including administrative and leadership duties.
  • Coaching and Instruction: Assist in coaching game-day and performance cheer squads, as well as instructing during training and practice sessions.
  • Recruitment and Retention: Recruit and retain students for the cheer program, ensuring a strong and diverse team.
  • Scheduling and Logistics: Coordinate performance, game, and practice schedules, ensuring seamless execution.
  • Compliance and Governance: Ensure team compliance with all league, conference, and institutional rules and regulations.
  • Team Culture and Reputation: Foster a positive team culture and ensure personal behavior aligns with Midland University values and brand.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required.
  • Academic Acceptance: Ability to be accepted into a Master's Degree program at Midland University for the upcoming semester.
  • Organizational Skills: Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building, and communication skills.
  • Technical Skills: Basic computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Cheer Experience: High school or collegiate level cheer participant.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Tuition Remission: Tuition remission in the master's program, with the level of remission dependent on the degree pursued.
  • Meal Plan: Free campus meal plan (15 meals per week).
  • Monthly Stipend: Monthly stipend provided.
