Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team at the Dr. Solomon Carter Fuller Mental Health Center. As a Seasonal Registered Nurse III, you will provide nursing care for patients with psychiatric conditions, working closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care for patients, following professional and hospital standards to maintain quality care.
  • Identify and address patient needs through nursing assessments and interventions.
  • Assume charge nurse responsibility as needed, providing critical thinking, prioritization, and delegation of patient care needs.
  • Supervise employees of a lesser grade, assigning tasks based on individual competencies and evaluating performance.
  • Perform medication administration, communication with physicians, and documentation to maintain accurate records.
  • Work with patients to provide instruction and support for independent management of personal, hygiene, and health needs.
  • Admit, transfer, and discharge patients, coordinating health care services to ensure continuity of care.
  • Identify, evaluate, and respond to changes in patient conditions, documenting and reporting such changes to ensure prompt response to patient needs.
  • Provide psychosocial support to patients through individual counseling and group work to maintain the therapeutic milieu.
  • Maintain awareness of DMH regulations and hospital policy and procedure regarding the use of seclusion and restraint, through supervision and instruction, to maintain patient dignity and human rights.
  • Maintain professional proficiencies by attending and participating in in-service trainings and educational programs to foster growth and development.
Requirements
  • Current and valid registration as a professional nurse under the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing.
  • At least one year of full-time or equivalent part-time experience as a registered nurse in a recognized hospital, clinic, or medical facility.
  • Six months of experience in a supervisory, administrative, or managerial capacity.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to interact with people who are under physical and/or emotional stress and in stressful settings.
  • Bilingual or multilingual fluency, given the population served.
