Job Summary:The Operating Room Registered Nurse will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced operating room environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in acute care nursing and be able to work effectively in a team-based setting.
Responsibilities:- Perform initial pre-op assessments and formulate appropriate plans of care for positive patient outcomes.
- Provide competent care in circulating cases and efficiently provide equipment/supplies based on patients' needs.
- Maintain sterile fields by practicing aseptic techniques.
- Accurately document patient health records.
- Provide high-quality care while using resources efficiently.
- Communicate effectively with physicians and other patient care team members.
- Interpret and implement physician orders; perform treatments according to accepted standards and policies.
- Anticipate potential patient problems and take necessary precautions to minimize those problems and ensure patient safety in the OR and ASC.
- Identify and report unsafe practices and/or procedures to promote compliance.
- Interact professionally and courteously with physicians, patients, patient families, visitors, members of the public, and co-workers.
- Ensure that supplies and equipment are available for patient care.
- Responsible for knowing current policies and procedures, protocols, and practices of the Center.
- Function within the scope of practice based on licensure, education, skills, and experience; recognize limitations and ask for guidance when necessary.
- Work hours may be subject to change, depending on surgery schedules.
- Hazards: Occasional contact with communicable diseases, electrical equipment, blood-borne pathogens, etc.
- 3 years of experience in acute care nursing.
- Current State Registered Nurse license; clear and active.
- Current BCLS and ACLS certification.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served in the Center.
- Surgical experience is a must for certain facilities.
- Effective communicator who appreciates and respects others' needs, opinions, and concerns.
- Knowledge of government regulations, HIPAA, documentation standards, and other compliance standards and ability to work in full compliance.
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
- Proficient computer skills - ability to accurately update and manage electronic healthcare records.
- Personal protective equipment: Provided if necessary (gowns, gloves, masks, head cover).
