Position Overview:

The primary role of the Paramedic is to deliver medical assistance and transport patients at the Paramedic (EMT-P) level, adhering to the guidelines set forth by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and the system Medical Director.

Compensation: Pay Range $24 to $30 per hour
Key Responsibilities:

- Deliver exceptional medical care to patients during transport, guided by the Program Medical Director and the referring or receiving Physician, in alignment with established system policies, protocols, and standards of care.

- Independently assess critically ill or injured patients across all age demographics (from pediatric to adult), providing necessary therapeutic and emergency interventions, as well as preparing for transport.

- Collaborate effectively with team members, including drivers, colleagues, leadership, and other healthcare professionals.

- Monitor and identify changes in patient conditions, proactively addressing patient and family concerns.

- Organize and prepare equipment and supplies for use in emergency situations before, during, and after transport.

- Maintain accurate and comprehensive records, engage in quality assurance initiatives, conduct data collection, and participate in special projects.

- Uphold clinical proficiency across all areas of practice, including care for patients experiencing neurological, cardiac, pediatric, obstetrical, traumatic emergencies, and other patient populations.

- Fulfill all physical demands of the role in confined spaces and challenging environmental conditions.

- Complete all transports initiated within the scheduled shift timeframe, recognizing that some transports may extend beyond standard working hours.

- Participate in all required educational programs, including didactic, clinical, and lab training, while maintaining all necessary certifications and licenses.

- Stay current in all safety education areas as mandated by Edward Ambulance.

- Exhibit effective communication skills with all stakeholders, including patients, families, hospital personnel, community members, and Edward Ambulance staff and administration.

- Represent Edward Ambulance in a professional manner.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High School Diploma or GED
- Illinois State EMT-P certification
- Must pass testing for Edward Hospital EMS System
- Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record
- Consent to a criminal background check
- Successful completion of pre-employment assessments, including a comprehensive physical and lifting agility examination, along with a favorable interview outcome.

Preferred Qualifications:
- ACLS Certification
- PHTLS/BTLS Certification
- National Registry
- Field Experience
