The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) provides anesthesia care for surgical patients, assists with emergency airway management, and ensures patient comfort throughout the procedure. This vital role requires a strong foundation in nursing and anesthesia principles, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
To excel in this position, you must have graduated from an accredited school of nursing and completed a recognized program in nurse anesthesia. You should also possess current licensure as a CRNA and maintain certification through the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA). Certification by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) is preferred but not required.
