About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team in Henderson, Kentucky. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement IEPs: Create and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities, including setting academic and behavioral goals, selecting appropriate instructional strategies, and monitoring progress.
  • Provide Direct Instruction: Provide direct instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs, adapting curriculum materials and instructional methods to meet individual student needs and learning styles.
  • Collaborate with Colleagues: Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure the effective inclusion and participation of students with disabilities in general education settings and activities.
  • Assess Student Progress: Assess student progress and performance using a variety of assessment tools and methods, and use data to inform instructional planning and decision-making.
  • Implement Behavior Management: Implement behavior management strategies and supports to address challenging behaviors and promote positive social-emotional development.
  • Maintain Accurate Records: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of student progress, attendance, and services provided in compliance with state and federal regulations.
Qualifications
  • Education and Certification: Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field from an accredited institution, and Kentucky teaching certification in Special Education (P-12) or eligibility for certification through the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board (EPSB).
  • Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Kentucky's special education regulations. Strong understanding of diverse learning needs and effective instructional strategies for students with disabilities. Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
