Responsibilities:
Assist in performing necessary inspections and preventive maintenance under the supervision of experienced fleet technicians or managers on vehicles and equipment to ensure safety, reliability, and cost-effectiveness throughout the fleet's lifecycle.
Learn to conduct FAI/CVI (Annual) inspections on all fleet vehicles, including tractors, trailers, and light-duty vehicles, under the guidance of senior technicians or managers, adhering to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
This includes all state-mandated inspections and frequencies.Gain experience in executing quality preventive maintenance inspections per company standards under the supervision of senior technicians or managers on all fleet vehicles.
Assist in performing maintenance repairs under the guidance of experienced technicians or managers to enhance safety and reliability across all fleet vehicles.
Participate in maintenance repairs on all vehicles, including inspections, scheduled repairs, and emergency road-call repairs, ensuring a safe and efficient process.
Address all driver vehicle inspection report issues promptly and accurately under the supervision of senior technicians or managers.
Diagnose malfunctions and execute repairs to manufacturer specifications, including but not limited to engines, transmissions, and electrical systems, under the guidance of experienced technicians or managers.
Follow established procedures for documenting all work performed using the complaint, cause, and correction format under the supervision of senior technicians or managers.
Develop proficiency in Sysco computer programs under the guidance of experienced technicians or managers.
Qualifications:
Preferred Education:
High school diploma or GED
Current and valid driver's license (CDL preferred, not mandatory)
Preferred Experience:
Technical training in Medium/Heavy Duty trucks from a two-year institution
No prior experience necessary
Preferred Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations:
Annual Inspector Certification
Brake Inspector Certification
ASE certifications in Automotive or Medium/Heavy Duty Trucks (preferred but not required)
609 HVAC Refrigeration Certification
Familiarity with computer-based diagnostic software for OEMs and component manufacturers
Technicians are required to own and provide all necessary tools (diagnostic equipment and major tools will be supplied by Sysco) to perform maintenance inspections, repairs, and diagnostics.
