Qualifications Required:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Successful completion of accredited Radiation Therapy training program and eligibility for certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from an accredited provider
Job Overview:
The Radiation Therapist is responsible for the precise coordination, planning, and delivery of high-quality radiotherapy tailored to oncology patients across various age groups. This role involves utilizing advanced equipment and established methodologies to ensure a positive experience for patients while adhering to safety standards and ethical practices as outlined by the ASRT and ARRT.

Patient Demographics:
This position serves patients across adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accurately position patients for treatment in accordance with prescribed protocols
  • Administer prescribed radiation doses to designated body areas using specialized equipment
  • Ensure the operational integrity of radiation therapy equipment
  • Review patient prescriptions, diagnoses, and charts for accuracy
  • Adhere to radiation safety principles for patients and staff
  • Maintain comprehensive records of radiation dosages and patient responses
  • Conduct treatment sessions independently, following long-term care plans under physician supervision
  • Input data into computer systems and adjust equipment settings as necessary
  • Provide reassurance to patients during treatment and report any unusual reactions
  • Perform additional duties as required
Work Environment:
The work area is well-lit and ventilated, with regular exposure to health risks associated with bloodborne and airborne pathogens. Interaction with patients occurs in diverse circumstances, necessitating the use of personal protective equipment as required.

Physical Requirements:
The role involves standing, handling equipment, and occasionally lifting objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
