Job Summary:
The University of Hawai'i, Kapi'olani Community College, Arts & Humanities Department is seeking a qualified candidate for the History Lecturer position. This is a part-time, temporary position that will begin in Spring 2024, subject to availability of funds and actual staffing requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach World History courses in various formats, including face-to-face, online, and hybrid.
- Develop and prepare course syllabi and reports related to teaching and student progress.
- Assess student learning using course competencies and program learning outcomes.
- Maintain regular office hours for each class taught.
- Collaborate with other instructors in the discipline to integrate teaching efforts.
- Submit self-assessment reports based on student and peer evaluations.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in History.
- Demonstrated ability to work with community college students.
- College-level teaching experience, preferably at a community college or four-year college.
- Work experience related to courses being taught.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively.
- Familiarity with competency- and outcomes-based instruction.
- Ability to effectively teach history online.
