Job Summary:

The University of Hawai'i, Kapi'olani Community College, Arts & Humanities Department is seeking a qualified candidate for the History Lecturer position. This is a part-time, temporary position that will begin in Spring 2024, subject to availability of funds and actual staffing requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach World History courses in various formats, including face-to-face, online, and hybrid.
  • Develop and prepare course syllabi and reports related to teaching and student progress.
  • Assess student learning using course competencies and program learning outcomes.
  • Maintain regular office hours for each class taught.
  • Collaborate with other instructors in the discipline to integrate teaching efforts.
  • Submit self-assessment reports based on student and peer evaluations.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in History.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with community college students.
  • College-level teaching experience, preferably at a community college or four-year college.
  • Work experience related to courses being taught.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively.
  • Familiarity with competency- and outcomes-based instruction.
  • Ability to effectively teach history online.
