Position Overview
The Academic Administrator for the Arts and Sciences plays a pivotal role in enhancing the educational experience by overseeing various academic processes and supporting faculty and students alike. This position is essential for ensuring the smooth operation of academic programs and fostering an environment conducive to learning and growth.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Management: Develop efficient procedures to streamline course registration and independently oversee course assignments across diverse departmental and program requirements. Evaluate current data management practices and business processes for undergraduate curriculum, proposing and executing enhancements. Provide comprehensive reports on historical course offerings to assist in strategic planning. 25% Academic Administration: Establish and maintain comprehensive records for undergraduate academic programs and faculty members. Organize and curate academic calendars for departments and programs. Facilitate the process for undergraduate awards and prizes. Assist in the senior thesis defense logistics. Respond to data requests from the Dean's office, including annual planning tasks. Coordinate logistics for departmental meetings and represent the department at academic events. Supervise students on designated tasks. 20% Student Support: Offer general guidance to students, addressing inquiries related to program specifics, major and minor requirements. Develop a thorough understanding of degree program requirements to provide informed advice to students. 15% Data Management: Process declarations for undergraduate programs of study and complete administrative tasks related to registration for assigned departments and programs. 10% Faculty Assistance: Act as a resource for faculty regarding technology, institutional policies, and general inquiries. 10% Faculty Processes: Oversee faculty recruitment and manage tenure and promotion cases as necessary. 10% Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned and support cross-functional teams within the designated divisions as required. 10%Qualifications
A minimum of 2-4 years of relevant experience is required. Exceptional oral and written communication skills to effectively coordinate across various offices and groups. Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail to manage multiple tasks effectively. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills are essential. A proactive problem solver who can anticipate challenges and devise innovative solutions. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, optimizing resources and timelines to ensure tasks are completed efficiently.
