Job Summary

As a Water Meter Reader with Washington Water, you will be responsible for reading water meters in assigned areas, recording consumption, and collecting water billings. You will also detect and report damaged or unusual meter conditions and readings, and deliver customer disconnect communication and disconnect services as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read water meters in assigned areas using a handheld device
  • Record meter readings and compare with prior readings to determine accuracy and appropriateness
  • Inspect water services and plumbing systems for tampering or cross connections
  • Communicate with customers in the field regarding meter reading, billing, and consumption
  • Repair and/or replace damaged meters, and collect monies and give customers receipts in the field
  • Disconnect services for non-payment and reconnect services as instructed

Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • First Aid Certification within one year of employment
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications
  • Valid State of Washington Driver's License
