Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner to join our team at Lancaster General Health. As a key member of our Pain Management department, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical advice and guidance to patients and healthcare teams through phone and electronic correspondence.
  • Develop and implement patient education plans to promote preventive care, chronic disease management, and acute diagnosis.
  • Prepare patients for visits by utilizing standardized rooming procedures.
  • Administer injections and medications as prescribed by providers, adhering to departmental protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist providers with various procedures, minor surgeries, and exams as designated.
  • Perform Point of Care Testing, including hearing, flu, urine, and strep tests.
  • Collect and prepare blood or other laboratory specimens for further testing.
  • Authorize prescription refills as instructed by providers.
  • Assist with test tracking and monitoring overdue results.
  • Remove sutures and change dressings on wounds as necessary.
  • Ensure exam rooms are adequately supplied and cleaned after each patient visit.
  • Assist providers and patients in reviewing and revising care plans, assessing patient progress, and following up between visits as needed.
  • Participate in proactive outreach for patients requiring preventive and chronic disease services.
  • Perform care coordination activities among specialists and transitions of care to obtain necessary patient information.
  • Assist in coordinating referrals, education, and community resources.
  • Actively participate in performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient experience and quality of care.
  • Participate in daily huddles with providers.
  • Serve as a patient experience advocate by being a positive influence when interacting with patients, visitors, and colleagues.
  • Handle patient information in a confidential manner according to Lancaster General Health's privacy and confidentiality policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Completion of a LPN or RN educational program.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), issued by the PA State Board of Nursing.
  • AHA CPR/BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • Occasional regional travel required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One to two years of nursing experience in a primary or specialty care physician's office.
  • Prior triage, emergency room, cardiac care, intensive care, or other related specialty nursing experience.

Cognitive Requirements:

  • Ability to attend to multiple aspects of a situation simultaneously.
  • Efficiency in processing verbal information, either in written or spoken form.
  • Ability to organize and categorize information effectively for later recall.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, push, pull, kneel, squat, reach, twist, balance, and climb occasionally.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly.
  • Ability to perform under stressful conditions, including emergency, critical, unusual, or dangerous situations.
