We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Support Anesthesia Associate to join our team at Penn Gastrointestinal Surgery Radnor. This is a full-time position working 4 10-hour day shifts, with no weekends, call, or holidays required.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will provide ancillary assistance to the anesthesia and ambulatory surgery facility (ASF) team, ensuring the smooth operation of the operating room and maintaining a safe and clean environment for patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain daily supply inventory and restock accordingly, including IV fluids, needles, and syringes.
  • Stock regional anesthesia block carts and replace supplies as needed.
  • Restock supply carts, scrub sink areas, cast cart, and anesthesia supply areas.
  • Refill soap dispensers throughout the unit and stock supplies in the Patient Holding area, ORs, and PACU.
  • Monitor OR bathrooms for soap, paper towels, and paper.
  • Set up and break down equipment needed for ORs and Anesthesia areas.
  • Provide environmental services and room turnover as needed.
  • Check CO2 absorbers for depletion and replace as necessary.
  • Set up and replace breathing circuits and perform leak tests.
  • Collect and decontaminate laryngoscope blades and LMAs.
  • Clean, decontaminate, and sterilize Sonosite ultrasound machines and reusable items.
  • Ensure availability of ultrasound probes and supplies.
  • Differentiate between high-level disinfecting and sterilizing equipment.
  • Follow aseptic and sterile technique principles.
  • Dispose of contaminated materials according to infection control policy.
  • Transport trash to the trash room as needed.
  • Keep OR equipment clean and ready for use.
  • Maintain post-op beds in the hallway.
  • Keep hallways and the OR/PACU area neat, clean, and free of clutter.
  • Run errands as directed, including specimen pickup and delivery.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1+ year of previous hospital experience preferred.
  • Certified Anesthesia Technician (CAT) certification preferred.
