Metal Finishing TechnicianWe are seeking a Metal Finishing Technician to join our dedicated team.
The Metal Finishing Technician is tasked with the processes of grinding, refining, polishing, and deburring surfaces of metal, wood, or synthetic components used in knife production.
This role involves the use of belt sanders, manual blasting equipment, abrasive wheels, buffing wheels, presses, files, and drill presses. The technician will visually inspect surfaces to detect defects and replace worn components as necessary.Additionally, the technician will set up and operate drill presses to perform machining tasks such as drilling, reaming, countersinking, or tapping holes in metal parts according to specified instructions.
The technician will read process control instructions and job travelers to ensure compliance with product specifications, utilizing calipers, micrometers, and fixed gauges to maintain quality standards.Key Responsibilities:

Conduct visual inspections to identify surface defects.
Replace worn belts and wheels using hand tools.
Interpret process control instructions and job travelers for product specifications.
Perform repetitive hand finishing tasks using both powered and manual tools.
Ensure that manufactured parts meet cosmetic and dimensional quality standards.
Consistently achieve production, quality, and attendance targets.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Complete all required documentation.
Demonstrate multitasking abilities by managing multiple aspects of the finishing department simultaneously.

A High School Diploma or GED equivalent, with less than one year of experience in a manufacturing setting is required.
Strong mathematical skills
Able to comprehend, communicate, and follow both written and verbal instructions
Detail-oriented, with a commitment to high-quality workmanship and a collaborative team spirit
Experience in a fast-paced production environment is preferred, especially in cutlery or small parts manufacturing.
Familiarity with inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, refractometers) is advantageous.
Strong attention to detail and good hand-eye coordination.
Able to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, coolants, abrasives, heat, cold, adhesives, and both automated and manual machinery while wearing necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, closed-toe shoes, arm sleeves, and designated gloves as required.
