Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at Open Arms Care Corporation. As a LPN, you will provide high-quality nursing care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, while also training and supporting our direct care employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing and health care services to individuals served in accordance with policies and procedures of the organization and within the standards of the state's Nurse Practice Act.
  • Train and educate clients and employees on various topics, including health and wellness, medication management, and emergency procedures.
  • Evaluate emergency situations, determine appropriate actions, and follow up as needed.
  • Accountable for all scheduled and controlled substances, maintaining the security and cleanliness of medication storage areas.
  • Record and report vital signs and clinical observations, administer treatments and medications as ordered, and assist physicians as required.
  • Rotate taking call, advise other LPNs, and notify the Health Services Director and physician on-call of any medical incidents.
  • Transcribe physician orders accurately and efficiently, ensure adequate drug and pharmaceutical stocks, and follow facility, pharmacy, and state procedures for ordering and receiving medications.
  • Provide and document all medical and nursing care provided, ensuring the safety of clients at all times.
  • Actively assist direct care employees to provide high-quality care to clients, participate in the development of Individual Support Plans (ISPs), and complete programs for desensitization for dental/medical appointments.
Requirements
  • Current and valid Tennessee license issued by the State Board of Nursing.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, as well as exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Accountability, adaptability to individual needs, teamwork, and a strong sense of responsibility.
