Job DescriptionCoherent is seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join our team. As a Data Scientist, you will be responsible for building, validating, and maintaining predictive models in the context of large-scale manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead projects from beginning to finish to enhance production and business performance by applying predictive models.
- Collaborate with data engineers and software engineers to integrate predictive models to existing and future data infrastructure and data visualization systems.
- Collaborate with process engineering, operations, production planning, and commercial teams to utilize domain-specific knowledge.
- Perform on-demand data analysis at requests from the management.
Requirements:
- A PhD degree in statistics, physics, engineering, material sciences, computer science, mathematics, or a similar STEM field.
- A master's degree in a STEM field and a minimum of 3 years' experience in a data-centric role, preferably in a high-throughput manufacturing environment.
- A bachelor's degree in a STEM field and a minimum of 5 years' experience in a data-centric role, preferably in a high-throughput manufacturing environment.
Skills:
- Mastery of machine learning, mathematical modeling, statistical analysis, and scientific reasoning.
- Hands-on expertise in a machine-learning platform such as TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, Amazon SageMaker, and IBM Waston.
- Ability to both apply and communicate to a general audience the foundational data science concepts, such as validation, bootstrapping, bias, variance, deep learning, and large language models.
- Proficient in working with SQL, Hadoop, Spark or a similar industry-standard data framework.
- Proficient in Python, C++, or other modern programming languages.
- General familiarity with modern software development practices, such as version control and virtualization.
- Proficient in a data exploration software, such as JMP, Pandas, R, SAS, Matlab, or Mathematica.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily office work, with regular visits to factory floors.
- Must be comfortable working around chemicals and machinery.
- To support global sites, must be willing to occasionally receive calls or work on nights or weekends.
Physical Requirements:
- Long periods of sitting or standing (up to 4 hours at a time).
