Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Dental Assistant to join our team at the Sacramento Native American Health Center. As a key member of our dental team, you will play a vital role in maintaining our high standards of patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our dental procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist dentists in maintaining four-handed dentistry procedures, ensuring efficient use of time and optimal patient care.
  • Perform coronal polish, temporary crowns, and sealants, as well as seat and drape patients, remove glasses and prosthetic appliances, and take blood pressure and record on chart.
  • Explain plaque control to new patients and those returning after long absences, and assist in ensuring patient comfort and alleviating fears.
  • Prepare operatory for patient reception, ensure asepsis, and position dental chair for proper patient reception and seating.
  • Obtain materials and diagnostic items, have pre-set trays ready, and autoclave instruments for the next day.
  • Prepare and deliver anesthesia, retract oral tissues, remove excess moisture, and properly transfer instruments to the dentist.
  • Verify correct procedures, fill in day sheets, and comply with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality requirements.
  • Escort patients to receptionists, inform them of appointment needs, and keep uninvolved people out of operatories.
  • Monitor supplies, enter necessary items on order boards, and assist front desk staff with referrals, patient follow-up calls, and other duties as needed.
  • Perform opening, closing, and maintenance procedures, take impressions, pour stone, and trim orthodontic models.
  • Mount x-rays, ensure lab case forms are filled out, and work with multiple providers as needed.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current RDA license and Dental Assistant certification from an accredited school.
  • Ability to chart visits comprehensively and complete E&M coding in compliance with dental coding standards.
  • Dental x-ray and coronal polish license, sealant certification, and current CPR certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a community dental clinic setting.
  • Experience with Nextgen or other electronic dental record systems.
