Key Responsibilities
  • Determine the correct color for each unit and ensure it meets our quality standards.
  • Wash, sand, and prepare the frame for painting, ensuring a smooth and even finish.
  • Clean and prime the frame, and apply a coat of paint to achieve the desired color and finish.
  • Check the paint line for completed units from our test facility to ensure they meet our quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.
  • Ensure proper attendance and punctuality, as attendance is critical to meeting production deadlines.
  • Send completed units to our New Production team for final assembly.
  • Select and prepare the correct coatings, paints, or sprays, following established formulas and procedures.
  • Operate painting equipment, including spray guns and automated paint mixing systems.
  • Fill hoppers, reservoirs, and pans with material used for coating, painting, or spraying.
  • Start and stop equipment, using levers or buttons, to regulate conveyor speeds, machine temperature, and air pressure.
  • Perform visual inspections to determine paint flow, viscosity, and coating quality.
  • Adjust equipment settings to achieve the desired dispersion of spray and coating quality.
  • Observe machine gauges and equipment operation to detect defects or deviations from standards.
  • Perform test runs to ensure equipment is set up correctly and functioning properly.
  • Clean machines, related equipment, and work areas, using water, solvents, and other cleaning aids.
  • Examine, measure, weigh, or test sample products to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Thread or feed items or products through or around machine rollers and dryers.
  • Weigh or measure chemicals, coatings, or paints before adding them to machines.
  • Set up and operate machines to paint or coat products with various materials.
  • Operate auxiliary machines or equipment used in coating or painting processes.
  • Remove materials, parts, or workpieces from painting or coating machines, using hand tools.
  • Record operational data on specified forms.
  • Prepare and apply stencils, computer-generated decals, or other decorative items to finished products.
  • Transfer completed items or products from machines to drying or storage areas, using handcarts, handtrucks, or cranes.
  • Start pumps to mix solutions and fill tanks.
  • Place items or products on feedracks, spindles, or reel strands to coat, paint, or spray them, using hands, hoists, or truck lifts.
  • Attach and align machine parts, such as rollers, guides, brushes, and blades, using hand tools.
  • Paint small items and perform touch-up painting, using paint brushes.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Trade school graduate preferred.
  • Basic math skills and proficiency in the use of precision measuring devices.
  • Ability to read and understand the Thompson Pump & Manufacturing Co., Inc. Employee Handbook.
  • One to two years of professional painting experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of various spray painting techniques.
