Job Overview
The Triage Nurse Specialist plays a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care at Kelly H Roy MD PC. This position requires effective communication and clinical judgment to assess, prioritize, and manage patient needs.
Responsibilities
- Promptly address patient inquiries or concerns through efficient triage processes.
- Determine the urgency of patient care and take appropriate next steps, including scheduling appointments or referrals to specialists.
- Provide patients with comprehensive information about their conditions, treatment options, and post-care instructions, while addressing questions and concerns with empathy and professionalism.
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other staff to coordinate care plans and ensure seamless communication.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records, documenting assessments, triage decisions, and patient interactions in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Ensure proper follow-up for patients with chronic or complex conditions, schedule necessary follow-up appointments, and tests.
- Recognize and respond effectively to emergency situations, ensuring prompt escalation to the appropriate healthcare provider.
- Participate in quality assurance initiatives and contribute to improving clinic operations and patient care processes.
- Order and follow up on laboratory tests, ensuring results are reviewed and communicated to patients and providers promptly.
Requirements
Education & Experience: An associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited program is required, along with a current RN license in Arizona. A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in a gynecological or women's health setting, is also necessary.
Special Skills/Equipment: Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus. Strong assessment and critical thinking skills are essential, as well as excellent organizational abilities and effective communication skills. Attention to detail and problem-solving skills are also crucial. Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems, preferably Athena, is required. The ability to handle sensitive information discreetly is also essential.
Salary Estimate: $65,000 - $80,000 per year, based on experience and location.
