Job Summary

The City of McMinnville, OR is seeking a highly skilled Finance Director to lead the Finance Department and Municipal Court. This is a key leadership role that requires a strong finance professional with experience in municipal finance, budgeting, and financial planning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement financial plans and budgets that align with the city's strategic goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the preparation of financial reports, including the annual Comprehensive Financial Report (CFR) and other financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, laws, and standards, including GASB and Oregon state requirements.
  • Lead the municipal court team to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure accurate accounting and financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with other city departments to ensure alignment with city-wide initiatives and strategic priorities.
  • Provide financial guidance and support to the city manager, city council, and other stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Advanced degree in finance, accounting, or related field.
  • At least 7 years of experience in municipal finance, with at least 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations, laws, and standards, including GASB and Oregon state requirements.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex financial data and make informed decisions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Designation as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Public Finance Officer (CPFO).
  • Progressively responsible managerial experience in the finance department of an Oregon local government.
