Job Description

Frost Bank is seeking a skilled Software Engineer II - Payments to join our team. As a key member of our software engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, configuring, testing, implementing, supporting, and documenting solutions for assigned applications across the organization.

You will work closely with project teams and other software engineers to provide technical support and collaborate on designing, writing, testing, implementing, and documenting solutions for assigned program modules. Your expertise in Java, Python, and/or shell-scripting languages will be essential in deploying, configuring, and securing third-party, distributed, payment applications.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures associated with programming, as well as experience working with relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, or similar. Your excellent written and verbal communication skills will also be essential in communicating with team members and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, write, test, implement, and document solutions for assigned program modules
  • Collaborate with project teams and other software engineers to provide technical support
  • Deploy, configure, and secure third-party, distributed, payment applications
  • Support assigned IT systems/applications by troubleshooting and resolving defects

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated ability to independently identify program issues and develop the appropriate solution, typically requiring at least 2 years of experience
  • Demonstrated experience with Java, Python, and/or shell-scripting languages
  • Experienced in developing integration, middleware, SOAP and RESTful services, and/or APIs
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills in APIs/web services and java applications
  • Solid experience working in a Linux and/or IBM AIX environment
  • Relevant experience working with relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, or similar
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong understanding of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures associated with programming
  • Understanding of the various payment schemes like Zelle, ACH, Swift, Wires, and instant payments [TCH/RTP, FedNow]
  • Familiarity with ISO20022 standards
  • Knowledge of ACI Worldwide's Money Transfer System and related products
  • Experience with cloud, microservices, Spring Boot, and APIs
  • Knowledge of container frameworks like OpenShift, Docker, or Kubernetes
  • Knowledge on CI/CD pipelines using Git, Jenkins, helm charts, Tekton, Argo CD, etc.
  • Working experience with event driven/messaging frameworks such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or IBM MQ
  • Understanding of microservice architecture in Java
  • Experience in the financial sector and/or business accounting
