About the Role

Fiber Materials Inc., a leading manufacturer of advanced materials and composites, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Electrical Systems Specialist to join our Facilities team.

In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of various electrical equipment and systems. As an Electrical Systems Specialist, you will also perform heavy physical work and operate a range of hand and power tools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install and repair electrical systems, apparatus, and components of industrial machinery and equipment.
  • Follow electrical codes, manuals, and specifications to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and electrical test equipment to diagnose and repair electrical issues.
  • Install power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment.
  • Connect power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connect cables and wires between machines and equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair malfunctioning apparatus, such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures, using test equipment.
  • Replace damaged or broken wires and cables to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Test malfunctioning machinery and discuss issues with other maintenance staff.
  • Assist with the planning and layout of wiring with the engineering department.
  • Program, calibrate, and configure digital temperature controllers to ensure accurate temperature control.
  • Troubleshoot and repair SCR power controllers to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Document daily work accountabilities and parts usage to ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
Requirements
  • Associates Degree (AS) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or six months to one year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A valid Journeyman's license is required, Master Electrician License preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot faulty electronic components and systems to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems and electrical safety to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Available for rotation of call-in coverage schedule to ensure 24/7 coverage.
  • Industrial electrical/controls/mechanical maintenance experience is highly desirable.
  • Wiring and troubleshooting experience with control panels, electric motors, electrical ovens, and typical industrial equipment is highly desirable.
  • Previous manufacturing experience is highly desirable.
  • Lean / Six Sigma / Continuous Improvement experience is highly desirable.
