YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interpret, comprehend, and execute standardized recipes with precision.
- Complete all opening and closing tasks to ensure a smooth transition for the next shift.
- Prepare a comprehensive mise en place for all menu items daily.
- Oversee food quality in all refrigeration and dry storage, ensuring proper handling and rotation.
- Make informed decisions regarding inventory levels and efficiently organize daily production sheets.
- Review daily production requirements with the Chef de Cuisine to confirm work needs.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation; adhere to hygiene practices when handling ready-to-eat foods.
- Understand banquet event orders (BEO) and their implications.
- Exhibit the ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a high level of organization and attention to detail.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and management, ensuring seamless interaction with front-of-house staff.
- Engage in ongoing training programs related to sanitation and safety practices.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned by management.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Equivalency; vocational or technical training in culinary arts is preferred.
- Capability to assist in preparing orders according to established standards while adhering to safety and sanitation protocols.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness at workstations; ensure all food items are covered, labeled, and stored correctly.
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment, their functions, and maintenance needs.
- Understanding and compliance with kitchen policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of safety and emergency protocols, including waste recycling procedures.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to work in environments with high heat sources, steam, boiling liquids, sharp utensils, and potentially slippery floors; extreme caution is required.
- Capability to lift supplies or equipment weighing 30 pounds or more.
- Frequent activities involving pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, and reaching in a hot kitchen setting.
- Extended periods of standing and walking in a warm kitchen environment.
