Position Summary:
The Storage Architect will focus on designing, architecting, and implementing solutions for enterprise storage systems and backup solutions across our global data centers and corporate offices. Key areas of expertise should include Dell PowerMax, NetApp Cluster mode, Nasuni Cloud Appliance, as well as Dell Isilon, Dell Unity, Dell ECS, and Brocade Fabric, with a primary emphasis on Backup Solutions (especially NetBackup). Proficiency in Linux systems, Windows, and VMWare is essential. Knowledge in areas such as Network and Infrastructure Security, Capacity Planning, Performance Management, High Availability, Disaster Recovery, and Maintenance is required. The candidate will work collaboratively within a high-performing team in a globally distributed organization and should possess experience in a global role, demonstrating the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and architect cost-effective, integrated engineering solutions to support Western Digital's global storage, backup, and data environments.
  • Demonstrate experience with a variety of storage arrays, including Dell/EMC (PowerMax, Unity, Isilon & ECS), NetApp, and object storage solutions.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot storage-related issues in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Manage SAN Fabric utilizing Brocade Directors and Cisco MDS switches.
  • Design, architect, and oversee backup solutions and strategies for disaster recovery.
  • Possess expert knowledge of NetApp hardware and software in mission-critical, 24/7 production environments.
  • Exhibit expert knowledge of Dell PowerMax/Isilon/Unity hardware and software.
  • Experience with Dell ECS/Active Scale Object storage and Google Cloud Storage is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with backup software, particularly NetBackup, is essential.
  • Strong understanding of Network Appliance (NetApp) CDOT operations principles and techniques.
  • In-depth knowledge of FC, CIFS, NFS, storage monitoring, and OS and firmware upgrades.
  • Experience with All-Flash storage arrays and Nasuni Cloud Appliance is a plus.
  • Experience with Brocade Director class switches is beneficial.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with 8+ years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 5+ years of experience.
  • Preferred experience in the storage field.

Skills:

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to engage with senior management, business customers, and external storage vendors.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and project management abilities.
  • Capacity to prioritize tasks and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple concurrent projects while handling interruptions.
  • Mentor and guide junior team members.
  • Working knowledge of Symantec NetBackup, VMWare ESXi server, and vSphere software is advantageous.
