Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care, including physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families, promoting health literacy and self-management skills.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and implementing evidence-based practices to enhance patient care.
Requirements
  • Current RN license in the state of employment or compact state.
  • BLS certification, with ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • 1 year of RN experience, with 6 months of experience in a Med/Surg, Critical Care, Stepdown, or Emergency Department Unit preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of critical care principles, including hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, and life-support technology.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CCRN certification.
  • PCCN certification.
  • RN-BC certification.
  • TCRN certification.
  • National Institute of Health (NIH) Stroke Certification.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interruptions and high levels of stress. The nurse may be exposed to physical altercations and verbal abuse, and may be required to use physical restraints. The nurse may also be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights, and may be required to work in a confined space.

Physical Requirements

The nurse must be able to lift and carry patients, as well as push and pull equipment. The nurse must also be able to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods, and must be able to bend, stoop, and climb as needed.

Additional Requirements

The nurse must be able to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams, and must be able to work effectively in a team environment. The nurse must also be able to prioritize tasks, manage time, and maintain accurate records.
