The Developer Experience team at Zoox is committed to enhancing the process of developing autonomy software, services, and applications. Our approach involves leveraging established programming languages, tools, and developing our own when necessary.

We seek an experienced engineer who has firsthand knowledge of full-stack development and is well-versed in addressing engineering challenges at scale. In this role, you will bridge the gap between developers' needs and infrastructure solutions, with the goal of refining the developer experience.

  • Evaluate the current suite of development tools and design proprietary tools & systems to enhance the developer experience and address unique challenges faced by our teams.
  • Collaborate with software development teams and infrastructure teams to understand the specific needs and constraints of the system, ensuring the best solutions for our autonomous vehicle software.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation for implemented tools and practices, ensuring seamless understanding and adoption by team members.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest development and infrastructure trends and technologies, integrating them where applicable to ensure Zoox remains at the forefront of innovation.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with 5+ years of industry experience.
  • Proven experience as a full-stack or backend developer, demonstrating a deep understanding of system design, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Fluency in at least one of the following languages: Python, Kotlin, or C++.

Bonus Requirements:

  • Experience working with Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) and Language Server Protocols (LSPs).
  • Experience developing and/or integrating debuggers with build systems.

Compensation:

Zoox offers a comprehensive compensation package, including salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $179,000 to $294,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level.

Zoox also offers a comprehensive package of benefits, including paid time off, unpaid time off, Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights, Amazon RSUs, health insurance, long-term care insurance, long-term and short-term disability insurance, and life insurance.
