Job Responsibilities
The Manager of Pharmacy Services will be responsible for implementing pharmacy service strategies and initiatives within Avera Health Plans. This role includes overseeing drug formulary management, which involves assessing preauthorization requirements, analyzing drug utilization patterns, and managing pharmacy costs. Additionally, the position encompasses clinical pharmacy services such as medication therapy management, therapeutic drug monitoring, and patient/provider education. The manager will also review performance metrics related to patient outcomes, medication safety, and compliance with medication use policies while establishing employee performance and productivity standards. Interaction with various stakeholders, including healthcare providers and regulatory bodies, is essential.
Qualifications:
- Doctorate of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) or Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy with relevant experience.
- A minimum of 5 years in the healthcare sector, managed care, or pharmacy benefit management.
- Preferred experience in leading multiple projects and prioritizing tasks.
- A Master's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field is preferred.
Licensure Requirements:
- Must hold a current, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Pharmacist in South Dakota and other states as necessary.
