Patient Account Specialist Opportunity

At Penn State Health, we are seeking a skilled Financial Counselor to join our team. As a Financial Counselor, you will be responsible for interacting with customers relative to all patient account issues while maintaining excellent public relations skills. Your primary emphasis will be early, proactive intervention to reduce financial risk to the patient and the facility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills in handling written and oral requests from patients and/or their families.
  • Perform all patient accounting functions, including billing, follow-up, adjustments, and refunds.
  • Utilize the patient account billing systems to update and correct billing and financial information.
  • Process adjustments, allowances, charge corrections, refunds, payments, and payment reversals.
  • Facilitate the necessary paperwork or establish charity care and time payment determination.
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum one year of additional experience in a customer service setting and knowledgeable of third-party payer billing and follow-up.
