Plant Assistant

Arepet Industries, LLC is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Plant Helper to join our team at our Von Ormy plant.

The Plant Helper will assist with production, perform general labor tasks, maintain plant housekeeping, assist with routine maintenance on plant and equipment, and provide support in all areas of the plant as needed.

• Maintain a clean and safe work environment by performing tasks such as lubricating machinery, monitoring plant conveyors, shakers, crushers, feeders, and pumps, and performing heavy ground maintenance.
• Clear all sand from the hopper at every opportunity.
• Guide trucks entering the yard to safe racks and operate the safe rack to open and close trailer hatches.
• Perform a daily heavy equipment checklist and assist in performing the Production Area Inspection Checklist.
• Observe critical points of plant operation and respond with corrective actions when necessary.
• Report any critical issues of the plant, equipment, and production to the Foreman.
• Assist the Foreman in coordinating and executing the loading and unloading of trucks, and coordinate with drivers to ensure the proper loading of sand from the hopper by weight and type of sand.
• Assist the Foreman and Mechanic on duty to ensure the continued operation of the plant and equipment.
• Ensure the plant and warehouse area is ready for production and areas are free of debris, and organized by sand type for each designated area.
• Attend safety meetings and meetings of priority as required by the Foreman, Safety Manager, and Plant Manager.
• May perform additional assignments as necessary.

• Must be able to work 12-hour shifts, weekends, overtime, and holidays as needed.
• Must be able to read equipment operating manuals.
• Must be able to wear all required safety equipment.
• Must be able to communicate with hand signals and warning sounds, with coworkers regarding movement of vehicles and mobile equipment.
• Must be service-oriented with proven ability to work in a team environment.
• Must be able to follow instructions as well as make some independent decisions.
• Must be able to perform duties in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.

• This job requires the ability to wear a half-mask respirator, hard hat, safety glasses, and steel-toed shoes.
• Must be able to climb stairs and ladders on a repetitive basis.
• Must be able to stoop, bend, and lift 50 pounds from ground to waist level on a repetitive basis.
• Must work outside in all weather conditions consistent with extreme ambient temperatures: heat, cold, wetness, dryness, dust, sand, and noisy conditions.
• Must be able to work at various heights.
• Must have good hand-eye coordination and be able to operate hand/foot controls.
• Possess good vision to perceive depth at close range and distances up to 150 feet.

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Prior experience in a plant environment preferred.
• Heavy equipment experience preferred.
