About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated Autism Support Educator to join our team at Turning Pointe Autism Foundation.

Job Summary:

The Autism Support Educator will develop and implement programs for a classroom that address and meet the needs of students with autism or other developmentally disabling disorders.

Responsibilities:

  • Instructional Planning: Prepare, adapt, and deliver instructional material tailored to the needs of students with autism or other developmental disabilities.
  • Curriculum Development: Develop suitable curricular content based on assessment of students' needs and utilize effective teaching methods.
  • Evaluation and Progress Monitoring: Evaluate students' academic and behavioral progress regularly.
  • Student Supervision: Supervise students in classrooms, school buildings, and social-curricular activities.
  • IEP Development: Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that reflect student needs, define measurable benchmarks for goals, and use data to measure goal progress.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with the Related Service Team to ensure generalization of skills and consistent programming.
  • Communication: Meet regularly with Turning Pointe administration and Lead Teacher to develop TPAF Curriculum and ensure fluid and consistent programming.
  • Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records and prepare reports relative to the work.
  • Professional Development: Participate in teacher trainings as required.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Experience working with middle/high school students impacted by autism or other developmental disabilities is preferred.
  • Skills: Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis principles, experience implementing behavior support plans, and excellent interpersonal skills are essential.

Working Conditions:

This role may involve lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, stooping, and kneeling. It requires standing and circulating for extended periods, moderate to high stress levels, and daily contact with students, teachers, staff, parents, community members, and outside agency personnel.

Compensation:

The estimated salary range for this position is $62,000 - $80,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
