Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
Role Overview:
The Procurement Specialist is chiefly accountable for the acquisition of both direct and indirect materials, ensuring timely delivery and verification of receipt to align with the Master Production Schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Uphold the efficiency of the Quality Management System components pertinent to this role.
- Oversee the supply chain of all materials necessary for production operations.
- Identify and resolve material-related issues, facilitating communication with internal stakeholders including Quality Assurance, Operations, Scheduling, Customer Service, and Finance.
- Lead investigations concerning material discrepancies and Trackwise incidents.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Purchasing Duties:
- Generate and issue purchase orders to suppliers within the JDE system, adhering to approved supplier protocols and ensuring prompt approval processes.
- Manage supplier lead times and expedite costs effectively.
- Maintain a comprehensive tracker for order status, purchase order status, lead times, and receipt of goods.
- Source new suppliers and vendors based on input from internal teams.
- Ensure receipt of all necessary documentation for materials, including specifications and safety data sheets.
- Monitor and adjust open purchase orders and supplier commitments, resolving discrepancies to ensure timely payments.
- Request and evaluate quotes for materials as needed.
- Collaborate with Global Procurement for significant purchases, ensuring compliance with necessary agreements.
- Support capital expenditure processes.
Planning Responsibilities:
- Conduct raw material planning for projects within the JDE system.
- Maintain inventory levels in accordance with company policies and objectives, adjusting safety stock levels as necessary.
- Manage Item Masters, Bills of Materials, routing, and other related supply chain data.
- Assist in product launch activities as directed.
- Review excess and obsolete inventory, providing data to facilitate customer reimbursement for owned materials.
- Monitor inventory levels to meet targets, adjusting purchasing activities accordingly.
- Process materials for destruction when obsolete or expired.
- Facilitate the shipment of materials, including samples, and assist in preparing shipment documentation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as life sciences, supply chain management, or business, or equivalent professional experience.
- A minimum of 2-4 years of experience in a similar role, encompassing production planning, inventory management, and procurement.
- At least 2 years of experience in the pharmaceutical sector or demonstrated knowledge of industry-specific controls and requirements.
- 1 year of experience with MRP systems.
- APICS Certification is advantageous.
- Proficient in interpreting MRP reports, stock status reports, and material variance reports.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with suppliers, production teams, and management.
- Able to work collaboratively in a team setting.
- Capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Organized with the ability to maintain accurate records and retrieve information efficiently.
- Demonstrated proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
- Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent documentation and communication abilities.
This role requires a high degree of independent judgment and analytical skills to fulfill the responsibilities effectively.
