About the Role

Ryder is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic Technician to join our team in Newark, NJ. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing vehicle maintenance and repair duties, ensuring our fleet of heavy duty vehicles is in top condition.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine vehicle maintenance, including oil changes, brake and tire work
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer tools
  • Replace defective components as instructed
  • Perform facility maintenance duties, including cleaning and organization of the shop
  • Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints and provide solutions
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational or technical certification, post-secondary degree, or technical certifications preferred
  • Basic tools required
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines
  • Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in required experience
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
