Position Overview
Under the guidance of the Production Manager, the Sanitation & Production Supervisor plays a crucial role in anticipating and fulfilling the evolving needs and objectives of the company. This senior-level position is tasked with providing strong, fair, and consistent leadership to team members while nurturing an atmosphere of trust and open dialogue.
Key Responsibilities
The following duties and responsibilities are essential to the role and may be expanded as necessary by management:
- Ensure adherence to all regulatory standards, including but not limited to: Human Resources, Good Manufacturing Practices, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Food and Drug Administration, and the United States Department of Agriculture.
- Foster a high-performance culture by cultivating a positive, team-oriented work environment that encourages continuous improvement, innovative thinking, and safety.
- Develop the necessary skills and knowledge to maintain optimal production functionality in alignment with organizational goals.
- Maintain thorough communication with the Production Manager to prevent production gaps during shift changes.
- Show respect and understanding for production achievements completed during the previous shift.
- Lead, coach, and mentor direct reports in line with business objectives while promoting teamwork and unity.
- Inspect products and equipment to ensure compliance with federal and state sanitation regulations and plant standards.
- Adhere to established SSOPs for the cleaning of equipment and work areas to meet SQF standards.
- Compile and submit reports regarding routine inspections, sanitation violations, and corrective actions.
- Collaborate with management and production staff on sanitation issues and suggest improvements in equipment, layout, and practices.
- Prepare and issue purchase orders for necessary supplies, including packaging materials and chemicals.
- Conduct preventative maintenance on equipment as needed and coordinate major repairs with the Maintenance Department.
- Manage chemical product costs within the established budget.
- Document and administer disciplinary actions when required.
- Promote a safe and positive work environment for all employees.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
