Preoperative Nurse

Job Summary:
As a Preoperative Nurse with Surgery Partners, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and safe transition of patients through the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases of surgical care. Your expertise and compassion will make a significant difference in the lives of our patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in the provision of nursing care to patients in an Ambulatory Surgical Center setting
• Assess patient status on admission to the preop area, the operating room, and/or the PACU area and on a continuing basis
• Utilize the nursing process for patient assessment, problem identification, and interventions
• Prepare patients for surgical procedures
• Physiologically monitor patients during procedures as required
• Administer and document medications, solutions, and treatments as prescribed
• Assist physicians with examinations, procedures, or other patient care activities
• Monitor and control the environment
• Provide equipment and supplies in a cost-effective manner based on patient needs
• Provide timely, accurate, and complete documentation
• Respect patient rights
• Participate in patient/family teaching based on the developmental age of the patient
• Perform actions that demonstrate accountability
• Follow established infection control policies and procedures
• Enhance professional growth and development through participation in various programs, in-services, workshops, and meetings
• Maintain competencies to function in the RN role within specific areas (e.g., Preop, OR, and PACU)
• Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills that promote a positive environment, teamwork, and loyalty to the organization
• Maintain a collegial relationship with physicians to ensure quality patient care
• Present behaviors and actions that create a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, physicians, vendors, and Surgery Center staff
• Demonstrate behaviors and actions that support the mission, goals, and operations of the Surgery Center that also contribute to continuous service improvement
• Exhibit flexibility, adapting readily to changes in the work environment and/or work schedule
• Maintain a positive attitude, even during periods of stress and challenge
• Maintain positive attendance and communicate in advance any absences from work
Requirements:
• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing; current state RN License
• CPR required
• ACLS required
• Minimum one year in pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative surgical patient care
• Orthopedic experience preferred
