Job Description

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize respiratory therapy processes to assess patient needs, incorporating pulmonary diagnostics, chest radiographs, hemodynamic values, laboratory values, and correlate blood gases and electrolytes.
  • Operate specialized ventilators in critical and non-critical care venues, assisting physicians with bedside procedures as necessary.
  • Administer medication treatments and therapies per physician order and/or patient-driven respiratory protocols.
  • Maintain and ensure proper functionality of equipment, troubleshooting as needed and identifying the need for service and/or repair.
  • Educate and instruct patients in purpose, technique, self-care, goal of therapy, and disease management.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide education on managing patients, facilitating clinical problem solving.
  • Under physician direction, adapt and comply to policies and procedures for various service areas, perform tasks and/or special duties as required by assignment.
Requirements
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
  • Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) within 12 months OR active Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential issued by the NBRC if credential received prior to January 1, 2023.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
