Schedule:
40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Compensation:
$26.00 per hour
Benefits Overview:
Full-Time, Non-Exempt employees are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package including:
- Health, vision, dental, and life insurance, including optional life and disability coverage
- Sick leave: 1 day per month, totaling 12 sick days annually (accrual begins upon hire)
- Vacation: 10 vacation days per year, accrued at a rate of .0385 hours for each hour worked (accrual starts at hire but usage is permitted after six months)
- One floating holiday, accrued immediately but usable after three months of employment
- Pension Plan eligibility after one year of continuous service
- Voluntary Tax-Deferred Annuity Plan (403(b) plan)
Position Overview:
The Veteran Support Services Case Manager will focus on assisting homeless and low-income veteran families. The role involves utilizing case management techniques and financial assistance to help veterans achieve housing stability and improve their overall quality of life through a strengths-based, client-centered approach.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive intake assessments to gather personal histories of residents
- Identify additional resources and agencies that may benefit residents and facilitate appropriate referrals
- Maintain precise and detailed case notes for each resident interaction
- Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures
- Engage with assigned families on a weekly to monthly basis for updates and support
- Implement center policies and procedures in daily operations
- Initiate and manage funds to support veterans in achieving housing stability
- Ensure timely and accurate record-keeping
- Participate in required training sessions as directed by the Social Services Director or VA Program Manager
- Maintain records related to grant administration
- Prioritize the welfare of each veteran under care
- Provide input for necessary educational programming
- Collaborate effectively with other staff and volunteers
- Exhibit professionalism in demeanor and appearance at all times
- Support the mission and objectives of The Salvation Army
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in human services or a related field (Bachelor's degree preferred)
- A minimum of three years of experience in case management or a related area
- Commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army
Additional Requirements:
- For positions requiring driving: Must be at least 21 years old and possess a valid in-state driver's license
- Annual Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) checks will be conducted as per organizational policy
- Continued employment is contingent upon passing a biennial background check
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Ability to learn new software applications with basic training
- Capability to create and manage spreadsheets as necessary
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as walking, standing, bending, and lifting up to 25 pounds
- Ability to operate a telephone and access information from a computer
- Must be able to understand and interpret written information
