Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Histotechnician I to join our team at Quest Diagnostics Incorporated. As a Histotechnician I, you will play a critical role in the preparation of slides for microscopic evaluation by pathologists. This is an entry-level position for individuals with previous histology or laboratory experience, and you will receive on-the-job training to perform specific technical histology functions under the general supervision of a qualified histotechnician II/histotechnologist or higher.

Responsibilities:

Under general supervision and according to policies and procedures, you will perform limited activities involved in the preparation of slides, including accessioning and reporting. You will also perform limited embedding and microtomy under direct supervision, prepare slides for routine Hematoxylin and Eosin staining, and perform coverslipping of stained slides either manually or automated. Additionally, you will perform specimen preparation on non-gynecological specimens, including cytopreparation, staining, coverslipping, etc. after completing training on non-gynecological specimen types. This includes specimen preparation of Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) specimens.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need 1 year of experience in a histology or related laboratory setting. Previous experience as a histotechnician is preferred. You will also need to have a High School Diploma or Equivalent and be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time. Basic medical terminology is also required.
