Role Summary: The Fremont-Winema Project Coordinator will report directly to the Oregon Program Manager. This role involves engaging with the community, fundraising efforts, and managing projects aimed at restoring recreation areas affected by wildfires. Close collaboration with the U.S. Forest Service, community organizations, and implementation partners is essential to achieve the outlined objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with U.S. Forest Service personnel to facilitate the planning and reopening of priority recreation areas impacted by wildfires.
  • Establish connections with organizations and agencies across Oregon and the Pacific Northwest to promote activities within the Fremont-Winema National Forest.
  • Assist in the advertising, negotiation, and awarding of contracts for services related to project implementation.
  • Oversee contractors executing on-the-ground projects, ensuring timely and financially responsible completion.
  • Manage service agreements, invoices, and financial aspects of all NFF-related projects within the Fremont-Winema National Forest.
  • Maintain administrative processes, including tracking program and project budgets.
  • Work with NFF's Conservation Partnerships team to broaden the network of supporters and partners by seeking funding from government sources, foundations, and individuals.
  • Collaborate with NFF's Marketing and Communication team to engage the public in conservation initiatives and outreach campaigns.
  • Act as a liaison for NFF conservation and development efforts in South-Central Oregon.
  • Assist with diverse, short-term projects across the Pacific Northwest as needed.

Location: This position is based in South-Central Oregon and is a remote work opportunity requiring reliable internet access and a dedicated workspace.

Compensation: The NFF offers competitive salary and benefits, with a salary range for this position between $63,280 and $79,326. New hires typically start at the lower end of this range, reflecting our commitment to internal salary equity.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in conservation, forestry, natural resource management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • At least three years of experience in recreation or conservation project management, community outreach, and partnership development.

  • Commitment to the NFF's mission and familiarity with U.S. Forest Service management practices.
  • Understanding of natural resource issues in Oregon, with a willingness to quickly gain expertise in local policies.
  • A strong commitment to environmental stewardship.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work independently and manage projects with minimal oversight.
  • Flexibility and teamwork skills in a collaborative environment.
  • Preferred skills include recreation and trails management, and knowledge of engineering related to recreation infrastructure.
  • Capability to evaluate program outcomes and communicate results effectively.
  • Proficiency in managing multiple projects and tasks to successful completion.
  • Ability to engage with diverse stakeholders while maintaining neutrality.
  • Willingness to travel regularly and participate in outdoor meetings and events.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and clean driving record are required.
