General Overview
The Facility Maintenance Technician engages in essential manual tasks associated with the routine upkeep and sanitation of municipal buildings and facilities. This role operates under the limited guidance of the Facility Operations Supervisor.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00 pm - 3:30 am
Occasional Saturday and Holiday shifts may be required.

Key Responsibilities
To excel in this position, the individual must effectively carry out the following responsibilities:
- Unlocks and secures the premises daily.
- Cleans and vacuums designated areas, rooms, and entrances.
- Shampoos carpets, mops, strips, waxes, and polishes floors.
- Disposes of waste and recycling materials from the buildings and surrounding outdoor areas.
- Sanitizes restrooms, including mirrors, sinks, toilets, etc.; replenishes tissue, towel, and soap dispensers.
- Dusts furniture, walls, window sills, and other woodwork.
- Cleans and dusts window coverings.
- Wipes down glass doors and partitions.
- Operates floor buffing machines and other custodial equipment.
- Identifies and procures cleaning supplies as necessary; maintains inventory records.
- Reports maintenance issues and concerns regarding the facilities.
- Comprehensive understanding of cleaning practices, supplies, and equipment, with the ability to utilize them efficiently.
- Proficient in the use of standard office, word processing, and data entry tools.
- Ability to comprehend oral and written instructions.
- Capability to operate and maintain tools and equipment relevant to the job.
- Ability to read and write effectively.
- Physical capability to perform demanding manual tasks.
- Ability to work autonomously.
- Ability to foster and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and the public.
A high school diploma or GED, along with some experience in using cleaning tools and supplies, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
A valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record is required.
Physical Demands
- This role necessitates frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force.
- Regular tasks include standing, walking, using hands for various tasks, and reaching with hands and arms. Frequent activities also involve speaking, hearing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and repetitive motions.
- Visual inspection and communication skills are essential for this position.
- Work may involve exposure to wet conditions, moving mechanical parts, and standard cleaning chemicals, necessitating the use of personal protective equipment.
