Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist PRN to join our team at Tucson Medical Center. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing nuclear medicine procedures, assisting physicians with therapeutic use of radioisotopes, and ensuring the operation of imaging equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform nuclear medicine procedures, including organ imaging and function studies
  • Assist physicians with therapeutic use of radioisotopes
  • Administer isotope dosage accurately and record dosage administered
  • Observe patients during procedures and report any unusual occurrences to appropriate personnel
  • Ensure operation of imaging equipment, including troubleshooting malfunctions and maintaining equipment inventories
  • Transfer, position, and instruct patients to obtain desired imaging diagnostic results
  • Maintain production and quality of images, following established standards and guidelines
  • Work as a member of the healthcare team, including physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals
  • Adhere to medical and surgical asepsis and standard precautions
  • Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patients and staff
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment
Requirements
  • Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
  • One year of nuclear medicine experience preferred, but not required
  • Nuclear Medicine certification, including Arizona Medical Radiologic Technologist certification (MRT) and National Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-N)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of field-related scanner use and application
  • Knowledge of how to transfer images from disk to magnetic media
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, including safety rules and operating instructions
  • Ability to complete routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to listen and accurately interpret others' communication
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups
  • Ability to calculate figures and compute rate, ratio, and percent
